Hi, I don't know if you can help but my 50 year old brother has decided he wants to learn the electric keyboard and has asked for one got Christmas! I have no idea what to buy, we have a budget of around £100, can anyone recommend a decent second hand one that will do the job? He's never played before, total novice! Any feedback very much appreciated, Thanks in advance t

I don't know what this person is willing to let their PSR-S950 go for, but the current bid is £36-- which is far, far less than it's worth, so I doubt they'll let it go that cheaply:

As far as the more recent Yamaha keyboards (i.e., those introduced within the last decade), the PSR-E4xx models are about the best you can get without going into a much higher price range (the next step up as far as current models would be the PSR-S650). The PSR-E4xx models might be a bit more than a rank beginner needs, but they'd be easy enough for a beginner to use while still providing plenty of features to "grow" into. Following are some UK eBay listings sorted by model, from newest to oldest-- the newer models have more voices and features than the older models, but even the older models weren't too shabby and would be pretty good buys at bargain prices. Only the PSR-E443 and PSR-E433 have the "DJ patterns" feature, as well as the ability to save and load "user files" (a type of backup file) from a USB thumb drive, so either of them would be preferable over the other models-- but they're probably also way over your budget, whereas the earlier models can be bought used for considerably less.

thank you for that, unfortunately we are quite away from you. I've got my eye on a few on ebay at the moment, fingers crossed one comes in at the right price. Thanks again t
