Any Alesis QS8.2 masters in the house?

Ok, I have had this thing for about 7 or 8 years and never learned how to use it.. because I never needed to. Now I am wondering how to get a sound similar to what you hear in the beginning of this tune:

I have asked this in several places because I am impatient and this is driving me nuts. I have been messing around but not having much luck... I'm a guitarist; not a synth master.....

I have a tone that is similar bur I don't know how to get that frequency modulation (or whatever it is called). Is there a awy to assign something like that to the mod wheel?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
