Can you use one keyboard to control another?

For example, if I bought a controller keytar (keyboard 1) and hooked it up to a separate keyboard (keyboard 2) via MIDI cable, would I be able to play the sounds off of Keyboard 2 on Keyboard 1?

If I can rephrase... I want the sounds from my traditional keyboard (a Korg Triton) to be playable on my little keytar. The keytar is just a controller and has no sounds of its own. Doable? I'm newish to the world of MIDI and I'm not sure if I need a sound module or if the Triton could fill that role.

Thanks!

Yes you could use the Triton as a sound module for the Keytar. You'd just have to set the Triton's MIDI sync to external.
