Which way is the dancer spinning? Watch carefully for a minute or two.

Hint. It helps if you focus on the raised foot.

Are we supposed to give our answer, or keep mum so as not to spoil it for anyone else?

Anyway, I'm gratified that my initial response seems to be confirmed by the raised leg! Although, knowing this type of "puzzle," I've probably chosen the opposite of what the puzzle's creator intended.

PS -- I think the question of whether the additional imagery is supposed to be a reflection or a shadow is crucial.

Actually there is no right answer. It's an optical illusion which seems to reverse direction as you scan the image up and down.

I was cleaning out some old image files from my junk folders today and happened upon this lovely little illusion.

It came out over a decade ago and went viral back around 2010.

I figured it held up well enough over the years to bring back for a whole new audience.

PS. If you really want to hurt your brain try switching directions back a forth a few times as you watch :)

Okay. Well, try as I may, I can see it only one way. I've tried to force myself to perceive it the other way, and I can't.

Try scrolling the image up and down in a smaller window as you focus on it.

It will magically appear to reverse rotation.

Weird.

Yesterday she rotated ACW then switched to CW

Today she rotates CW right from the off.

"She" is just a two dimensional silhouette. It's only your mind playing tricks on you when she reverses direction.

Really, this is more a test of your perception and the ability of your brain to shift gears on the fly.

Like I said, if you scroll the image up and start by focusing on the feet you can eventually find you can reverse it at will.

Gary ;)
