Hello all.
Longtime key player in central IL between St Louis and Chicago
I play at church regularly, ocassionally ar retirement homes and also in a small keys-and-acoustic-guitars cover band 3-4x each month (wineries etc). We play “conversational/ambiance” music - we’re not a rockin’ dance band.

Although electrical power is usually available I really like the flexibility/option of battery power as an option in a pinch.

Same w speakers. Although I am usually plugged into a sound system, everything I have has built in speakers which are good for home practice time or times when no amp is available or needed (retirement home).

Here’s my current collection and why I bought each of them…

Korg PA900 - my most-functions & most-features arranger keyboard. I mostly use it create MP3 backing tracks I can load to my phone or other keyboards. In rare occasions I hook up a mic and can use the built in TC Helicon vocal processing.

Korg Microarranger - nice and portable (if only it was battery powered!). Makes a good second keyboard (e.g. for synth/guitar/sax solos) at gigs

Korg EK-50L - I was intrigued and very pleased with Korg’s improved User Interface. Also happy it can be battery powered (for quite a long time). Used occasionally for performing at retirement homes.

Yamaha DGX 640 (replaced my old non-GHS weighted YPG-535). It’s my “daily player”.

Yamaha PSS-F30. The best $60 I ever spent. Nice little “toy” arranger. Only 37 keys. 2lbs maybe. I can play while on a plane or in a car. I have played it poolside and passed it around at parties. Just a ton of fun. Its limitations anre part of its charm. Everybody should have something like this.

Yamaha CK88 - a battery powered “Reface pro” stage piano! Not as good sounding as a top end Nord but only 1/3 price. Used for 1/2 my gigs where I have room for carry-in and setup - and think I need the full 88keys.

Yamaha CK61 - I found some gigs harder to carry-in setup so I got the matching 12lb CK61! Use it other half of the time. Have same Live Sets saved on both. Can practice for gigs or make Live Sets while sitting in my favorite chair.

Well that’s it.
Hope I get to learn from the other members.
