Different name for VX-351 CV Output Expander for the Minimoog Voyager?

Is there another name/term to describe the VX-351 CV Output Expander for the Minimoog Voyager?

I understand it's function, but as far as labeling it a specific type of gear, is there another name/term it could be described as, other than an "Output Expander".

Say I went into a music store and asked the salesperson if they had any synthesizer output expanders, would they understand what I am asking for?

Could this just fall under maybe "sound modules", or a "keyboard accessory"? Perhaps a keyboard expansion board?

I haven't really seen any other types of gear like this out there. Anyone have any links to comparable products?

Not really familiar with the gear but perhaps it could be considered an audio compressor or compander?

ie. A Dynamic Range Expander?
