After watching several Youtube videos, Diva is highly recommended as the best synth VST.
The best video is U-He Diva - Best 50 Presets [beautiful sounds, no talking]

I heard that and wow, those are the sounds I am looking for. Yes, beautiful.
So I coughed up over $200 and bought the VST.
I was pretty disappointed in the presets that it comes with. I went back to that video and searched some of those 50 presets.
Oh, they don't exist. It appears that I have to buy several packages from creators to get those sounds.

Am I missing something here like a free download, or did I get scammed? Bait and switch.

This is what you get when rent software instead of buying hardware.

Digital imitations are just that, poor imitations of the real thing anyway.

If you want a REAL synth experience, than pick up a Prophet or a Take 5 or a PolyMOOG. :D

Never mind farting around with digital approximations of that real analog bite that comes from dialling in your own unique patch.

Since I've left the careFREE (as in beer!) environment of open source behind, now I must suffer the loathesome shovelware/freeware/adware crap that they push on the app store and pay thru the nose for something as simple as a file converter. :p

The commercial stuff has all been ripped off from open source to begin with.

But Apple and M$ have slid them into sexy, idiot-proof packages and jacked up the price to what the market is willing to bear.

There are lies, three are damn lies, and there are software demos :p

I just feel burned that somebody made a video "Best 50 Presets" they sounded great, that is what sold me on the VST.
It should say "Best 50 Presets (THAT ARE NOT INCLUDED) Pay extra. Batteries not included.

There are a few presets in the VST that sound good. But all of the ones in that video that sound great are pay to play.

First off, Diva is a phenomenal synthesizer. It's far and away the best virtual analog synth I have. I have a Moog Grandmother, a Novation Summit, several Yamahas, an Ensoniq SQ1, a Waldorf Streichfett - all hardware synths, some in the thousands of dollars - and I find myself STILL using the Diva. With that being said, the demo you referenced (Pacific Base) is not from U-he, the manufacturer of Diva. A lot of synth gurus will make patches and then sell them online, and this appears to be a list of some of the better ones. I see Luke Neptune is referenced and he's a popular patch vendor. However, a lot of those patches are not too far away from some of the factory presets which you should probably be able to emulate without too much work - even with little experience. Or, you can check out one of the people who make presets and buy their package of patches. They're usually not very expensive - like $10-20 for several dozen patches. Make sure they're for the Diva though! 😅 It sounds like you're not familiar with software synths yet. You should probably learn about them, as you're missing out on 90% if you're merely using presets. Diva comes with a pretty extensive manual that can be used as a textbook. But as far as a good old-fashioned analog VST goes, you've got the best, IMHO. Other good VSTs are wave tables like Serum or sample-based ones like Omnisphete, but if you love the sound of a traditional synthesizer, Diva is the way to go.
