At my senior mobile home park, two us started a monthly morning social around coffee and donuts.
FIRST SATURDAYS
Several sessions were great. People talked about their kids, former careers, taste in foods, travel, even God. One time I was sitting between two guitar players debating Hendrix versus Zappa.
But the fourth meeting and thereafter, things changed suddenly and completely. Attendees were strictly discussing politics, despite rules to voluntarily refrain. So us Founders repeated the rules.
To no avail. Tried putting up a sign to quell the trend. Nope. So a few of us (not most) slipped away.
Now when I need a rehash of whatever Jesse W said on FOX N N, I go to the next First Saturday party. Sure enough, the table will be ringing with the FNN headlines like a bunch of geriatric parrots. Describing my neighbors as current issue morons is completely accurate. But they are delighted with the party if not even one ounce of differing opinion.
One can launch a social organization.
One can admin a social organization.
But one can never own a social organization. It's a dynamic independent of authority.
====
Here I'm seeing a different compliance issue. Posters enter, ask one question, disappear.
This triggers frustration and subsequent negativity.
====
I'm not sure if how what when fixes social organizations that don't comply to my wishes. I've confessed that for you, herein above.
I am certain of what isn't working.
Posting the disappointment is not working.
Venting to the forum at large is not working.
Raising the heat in your posts is...you get it.
====
And what to do about all those Introductions by pending orphans?
Rather than forcing us through another of your asinine complaints, which may indeed be increasing the fleeing by exposure to instant forum negativity, listen to my favorite Miles Davis cut...
SO WHAT
