Hello new member as of today. I hope to learn about my Yamaha keyboard from you. I am an average piano player with about 8 years of lessons but reading fake sheets is my passion. I really would love to learn to play more by ear too. I am a 76 year old lady who still plays often the piano in my assisted living for the other residents. They love the old songs and I want to learn more about my keyboard to sound more fun for them. SANDY B...HOPE ELDERS ARE WELCOME ON THIS FORUM. My love of piano , keyboards is ageless to me. I never feel old when I play.

Hi Sandy. You're only as old as you feel ;)

There's a lot of us middle aged old farts on here as well as grass green kids all united by a common love of keyboards and music.

Welcome aboard and enjoy your stay.

As for learning about your keyboard, what make and model and what do you need to know?

Love to improv from fake sheets, lead sheets and anyone would talk this with me? Could I start a thread for this subject of exchanging improv ideas?

The keyboard is an old PSR 225 but only used about 20 times and still very good to use. I want to learn how to use the back ups that I can make like a band. Also make my own backups later? SANDY B

Hi Sandy B,

By "backup" I think you mean "backing". In Yamaha-land they call it "style".

Using them is easy - and fake sheets are perfect. Essentially your right hand plays the melody on the staff, and your left hand plays the chord on the "accompaniment" (lower third usually) of the keyboard.
