I am new to these forums. I am a bassist primarily but I also play guitar, mandolin, violin, and a bit of banjo. I am in the process of adding keyboard skills to my arsenal. I am a good music reader. I primarily play theater productions. I am currently 61 years young.

Welcome to the gang.

Locally there's been a distressing transition to recorded tracks. I hope that isn't happening in your neck of the woods.

Unfortunately there are many theaters that use tracks in North Texas. But casts do appreciate live musicians, especially when there is a hiccup on stage.

Luke! I am your father....

Welcome aboard Scullen...

Personally I don't entertain myself with anything without a pause button these days but it's all good. :)

I am using a Roland DS88. It seems well suited for my needs.

Live music - nothing like it.

I was talking with my piano teacher on Saturday. She had gone to a local production of Jesus Christ Superstar. It used tracks. But not only did it use tracks, the tracks were generated using what she described as a cheap keyboard. If you're going to create tracks, couldn't you do a good job of it?

For perforance tracks, you would think so. For rehearsal tracks, minimal tracks would be fine.

But with DAWs and great virtual instruments available today, there is no excuse. I could produce great full orchestra tracks easily.

Even so, live music is better.
