Hi everyone,

My name is Juliet, I'm 14 and I love playing the keyboard.
I've learned it by myself, without lessons.
And I'm not from the U.K. or U.S. or where ever this server comes from.
I come from Holland. (I'm so sorry if there are some grammar mistakes in it, I'm still learning the language, it's a beautiful language by the way)
And as you can see, I'm a HUGE fan of Taylor Swift! I love her just because of her personality and the fact that she's writing her own songs (no, they're not always going about break-ups) and still uses REAL music and not just something made by an computer. (maybe there are a few songs, not much)
I love to play songs by Taylor.

I just want to talk about keyboards and things like that. Maybe you can help me with some questions and maybe I can help you too.

I'm playing for about 2 years now. It all just started with a MK-2054 keyboard. I have no idea what kind of keyboard it is, but my parents bought the keyboard for my little sister in the age of 6 maybe 7.
She played sometimes on it, just for fun. She didn't know what to do and it was she played becuase she liked all those different sounds. But when she turned 8 years old, She never played on it. And when I was 11. I looked at the keyboard, it was just laying there for a few years and I actually always wanted to play a song on a "piano", and I just wanted to start with the keyboard. So I asked many people but My parents and family don't play any instrument.
So I asked my mother for lessons. But that was way too expensive. So i decided to learn it all by myself.
And well, it worked. And I just love moving the fingers across the buttons of the piano.
I also love singing (Taylor-songs of course ;) )

Well, now you know kinda who I am.
I hope you could read my message.
If it's not? just tell me, I will work on it because I LOVE this language,

Greetings- Juliet

Hello Juliet :)

Welcome aboard. Your English is perfect.

We welcome all nationalities and all skill levels here.

It doesn't matter if you're self taught or if you spent 12 years at a conservatory, we're all bound by our mutual love of music and keyboards in particular.

I'm self taught myself and didn't really pick up on keyboards until I was in my 30's.

Looking forward to hearing more about you and perhaps some of the music you play.

Gary ;)

Welcome Juliet!
I was self taught too at age 11, but did take some music theory classes in college. Hope you stick around and contribute here.

On a Taylor Swift note... my daughter who is 10, absolutely loves Taylor Swift. Over the summer I took her to see Taylor Swifts house on Watch Hill. She took a couple of pictures from the car, when a security officer came up to my car and invited us on to her lawn so my daughter could get a better picture. He was very nice to my daughter. There was a sign at the gate that said "I Knew You Were Trouble When You Walked In".
It made her day!

Hi Juliet,

Welcome and you'll enjoy these forums. Age, background, ability and music taste are irrelevant - we all just love playing keyboards and helping each other where we can.

Your English is excellent, by the way.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Juliet,
I'm just a beginner learning to play a Casio keyboard. Taking piano lessons too. I check out DVD's from the public library on learning how to play a keyboard and that helps me learn to play. I like rock and blues music (American style songs). Lots of teachers just want to teach classical music to students, but that's not my interest. After all, only a very few people can become classical pianists. Just a suggestion...can you make up a song about how lovely it is to look at tulips? Bet you can because you live in Holland.
