I'm looking in the data sheet for the DGX 670 wanting to idenetify the various instruments that would be used for BASS. In the 660 manual, it would give the voice number, and you could just enter that number and get to it.

The 670 data sheet lists numbers, but I don't see any way to get to those. In the various screens they may list which instrument category to find them in, and others are less helpful. Best case scenario is it shows a category that exists, for example Guitar & BAss. You could pull up that category, but then you have to scroll through the list, which isn't even alphabetized. (I presume there is a reason for the order, but not helpful for this need)>.

Take the snapshot below, ther is no voice category button for "Bass":

Theis one shows in Legacy Category, as a sub-category.

Various searches on Google didn't turn up any help. Any thoughts?

Hi
No voice category BUTTON for bass
On the instrument and in the o.m. is a button for GUITAR&BASS and in the data list the category for guitar&bass is available.
You may have used a different list for the BASS info .
FYI I downloaded the Portable Grand DGX760 data list which includes 79 pages.
On page 58 is the midi channel message info as used with this instrument.
Hope this will help you.

I appreciate your taking the time to provide the feedback.

I have that document. Studying, understanding and utilizing the MIDI data is beyond my skill level at this point. I was expecting a similar, if not same, bass instrument as I had used on the 660. Just wanting to find one to provide some different bass in accompaniment on a song I've been learning.

Surprisingly, I'm not finding anything that meets my particular need. Here's an example of some that was on the 660:

I think you might be able to use all of the old "legacy" XG voices, but if so I think you'll need to add them to your user voices in order to be able to select them. Wasn't there a thread last year about using the old XG voices on the DGX-670? Or maybe it was a different model? Anyway, the information in that thread might help.

Here is the thread, and the post where a solution is first mentioned. See that post and subsequent ones.

Hi
To compare voices of different keyboards of the same brand you can use the voice datalist.
Just compare the figures in the 3 columns.
Example. Your datalist BASS (yellow cells) =keyboard 1
In column 1 figures are 0 and 104
In column 2 figures are 114
In column 3 figures are 33-35-39-40 (instrument numbers)
In the datalist DGX670 Legacy =keyboard 2
In column 1 figure 0
In column 2 figure 114
In column 3 figurs 33-35-39-40
The instrument voices on keyboard 1 you will find them also on keyboard 2.
Example 2
Data list XG bass blue cells
Col 1: 0
Col 2: 40
Col 3: 33-34-39-40
Seams to be the same list as category GM&XG in the DGX670
Take also a look at the threads DGX670 like SeaGtGruff said ( very interesting)

Hoi
Likewise in XG datalist col 2 nb 45 figures 33-34
In col 2 nb 18 fig 34-40
In col nb 45 fig 34-38
You will find them in the category GM&XG
Hope you can find the link for your missing voice. Remember most of the voices GM&XG are just for playback .
In the datalist is also mentioned with a black dot if that function is direct access or available for style, drums
, left or right hand and others.
Succes
