I was wondering if someone could tell me how to think of or what to make of the two bars as seen in the attached screen shot? This is a piano staff with (at the beginning of the bar but not seen in the screen-shot) a treble clef on top and bass clef on the bottom.
It is not clear to me what the music is trying to tell me. First of all, what notes are played with what hand? In the first bar and treble clef, are the notes after the whole note E supposed to be played by the right hand? I can see how the continuation of the notes from the bass clef are easier to read with stems pointing down and notes actually placed on the treble clef but I am not sure if this is just to make things easier to read or if the writer is indicating that the notes going up into the treble clef are also supposed to be played with the right hand.
In the bass clef, at the end of the first bar, the clef changes to a treble clef and I do suppose that the two notes that follow are indeed supposed to be played with the left hand.
This seems like an intelligent way of entering this passage but I am not clear on just how the reader or player is supposed to interpret it.
