Using the damper pedal for a kick is probably the best way to make a keyboard feel like a drum kit. I noticed while using the default SRimap midi preset in SD2.0 everything was far away and not on the proper hand if you are a right handed drummer nothing like the right to left feel of a drum kit. I tried to capture the right left feel without having to cross your hands which is more comfortable on the piano. After you record your midi track go through and change velocity for the kick around a little to humanize a little bit and presto.
This works great for drum programming when a td20 is not available. Also there are many rhythms and fills ten little piggie can create. You will find it almost effortless to play fast rolls on snare, toms, and crazy hihat effects definitely worth checkin out if you have a midi keyboard laying around.
All you need is Reaper SD2.0 and a Keyboard with damper pedal. Install instructions as well as reaper instructions are included in the zip upload. Let me know if you like it or if you have any suggestions.
