Korg Factory Reset not working

I have a keyboard that I love however I cannot pull up the sounds of choice anymore. I have a Korg microX that is several years old that has never given me a problem. Lately I can not pull up the sounds I want; for instance: I can press the PROGRAM A button 011 Dynamic Strings and it's fine but if I try to get to another sound and use the the big round knob it may jump over two PRORAM letters and pull up a sound I wasn't trying to get. This happens on all the PROGRAM & COMBINATION buttons. If I also try to use the big round knob the curser moves to various PROGRAMS and COMBINATION buttons I don't want. It use to be so easy to look in the manual, press a PROGRAM button and use the round knob to get to where I'm trying to get to.
I have googled and found how to 'Factory Reset" the keyboard but that does not work either. Very frustrating!

The rotary selectors are dying of old age and overwork.

Either replace them or else dump the boat anchor now.
