Kurzweil Mark 10 Ensemble Grand Keyboard replacement

Hello,
This is my first posting. My Kurzweil keyboard is starting to have problems. On switching on, the accordian sound button is automatically selected. When I press the grand piano button, which I use the most, the accordian buttons stays on and I have a mixture of piano and accordian for a minute or two ( a disturbing cacophony) then it reverts back to the accordian button, which cannot be switched off. Many other buttons simply do not come on. Is it worth replacing the keyboard? I love the sound of my kurzweil but can't justify the cost of a completely new model of the same quality.

Welcome.

Sounds like the keyboard needs opening up and all contacts and connectors cleaned.

If it is a software glitch then saving user data and reinstalling the operating system could rectify the problem.

Many thanks Biggles. Further question(s)...would it be a dry clean and if not that how does one reinstall an operating system? I don't have a user manual; would that help?

An electrical component company will have a spray can of contact cleaner.

This is on Amazon but I would buy from a specialist shop rather than Amazon.

Those buttons might be sealed in which case you cant clean them. Contact Kurzweil support for an opinion. (e-mail address removed)
