I'm not sure if this belongs here. To cut a long story short, I'm hoping someone can tell me how much this Steinway & Sons Model D 274cm Concert Grand Piano my grandfather left me is worth. I was 13 years old when he bought it, and I'm thinking about selling it. I love the piano, but I've never played it, and I don't know much about electronics and such. Is this a good option?
I'm a doctor and don't have time to learn about pianos. It has been sitting around and has been well taken care of. Now I'm thinking of selling the piano to someone with significantly more time to put it to use. Please provide guidance.
Also, if anyone knows of another community where I can cross-post, I'd appreciate it.

Location
Lancashire, UK.
If you Google it you should see that new today it is a $170,000 USD instrument.

So do take very good care of it and I suggest that you seek out specialist Auctioneers who car give you a far better estimate of its actual value and of their selling and transportation fees.

We are bunch of keyboardists who can only aspire to dream of owning such a fantastic instrument.

Good luck.

Hello to everyone. I'm extremely grateful for the prompt response and assistance.
I had no idea there was a place like this where people could freely share common problems and get maximum support quickly.
I contacted Stainway and Sons as recommended, but I was unable to obtain a price for a used piano because I was told that they only sell new.
However, I was able to schedule an appointment, and they are sending a Tech representative to assist me in inspecting it on Monday to ensure it is perfect. My husband is far away and unable to help, so I'm glad I found you.

My condolences for your loss. I have very fond memories of my grandfather as he was the one who got me interested in music !

As for the piano : Wow !
If I had the space and money for it, you'd have a done deal ! Wonderful instrument.
Unfortunately, I have neither (space nor money) ;)

I don't know where you're from (was your Steinway D built in New York or Hamburg :) ? ) but check out pianoworld forums
They'll probably be able to offer you some advice as that forum is more piano-centric...

Good luck !
