Recently purchased a really clean leslie 760 and dual preamp. Got it home and it would not switch to high speed. The guy I bought it from told me to put a couple drops of sewing machine oil on the horn motor spindle. That worked. Two months later, after not having used it for two months, same problem. A couple drops of oil and the motor spindle WANTS to drop into the high speed position but won't go all the way there. Suggestions or comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks! Jon

Sewing machine oil is for sewing machines. You need leslie or hammond oil.

2.5 Oiling the Leslie

Tom Tuson, of Hammond Suzuki says: "You only need a drop, a tiny drop at that, about once a year. Remember a little oil goes a long, long, long, long way. DO NOT USE 3 in 1... Call Hammond and order our Leslie oil.... I know of no light oil that you can buy in a hardware store or sewing machine shop that is light enough....."

You also need to oil both the horn spindle and its motor. Sounds as though you only oiled one of the two items.

Thanks friends. Tom Tuson, I will call Hammond and order the correct oil. When it arrives I will oil the horn rotor as I did not think of that. The problem was not lubrication but rather mechanical. Too much pressure at the spindle/drive wheel contact. I repositioned the outer two motor mounts to create lighter contact at slow speed and it seems to have solved the problem. Thanks again everyone! Jon
