This far, all the Kurzweil keyboards I've tried as got a button called "Panic". When you press it, a moose (or something, don't really remember) pop up on the screen and says "I'm panicking!" for a few seconds, then everything returns to normal....

Does it do anything else than simply showing a moose on the screen? It feels a bit like if the developers was like "Ehm, guys... We've got one button too many here.... What should we do with it?" :S

I've always wondered what that button actually does, so I hope anybody knows :)

It's not just a Kurzweil thing - my 8x8 has one. It sends note off messages to all notes on all channels, and probably resets all controllers to 0 as well - it's for when MIDI messages get lost and you need some way to reset everything. "All my notes are sustaining - PANIC!". It's incredibly useful, particularly when using complex setups live and you've got sysex flying everywhere (I don't advise it...)

Not sure why a moose though - are they easily panicked?

No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian møvies: "The Høt Hands of an Oslo Dentist", "Fillings of Passion", "The Huge Mølars of Horst Nordfink".

Ah, okey, cool. I've never really gotten that far when trying them out in the stores, but that's actually a pretty nice function, then.

I don't really know about the moose, though. But I doubt that they're easily panicked...
