Hi there

I don't have a Roland Juno DS 61 but I'm intrigued by its pattern sequencing.
One question, though: If I make a pattern sequence, can it be used like on an arranger keyboard?
I mean, will it scan the actual chords played with the left hand?

Thanks in advance

Since no one replied, I asked Chapt GPT. Here's the answer: The Roland JUNO-DS61 features an onboard pattern sequencer designed for capturing and developing song ideas efficiently. However, it does not function as a traditional arranger keyboard that automatically detects and adapts to chord changes played with the left hand in real-time. The pattern sequencer allows you to create and record specific patterns, but it lacks the capability to dynamically follow chord progressions during live performance. For a demonstration of creating a pattern sequence on the JUNO-DS, you can refer to this tutorial:

Yamaha's workstations like Montage, MODX, and even back to the Motif series DO have chord-following arps that function similar to an arranger. However, the documentation and support knowledge base state that the transposition rules aren't necessarily predictable; they vary depending on the arp selected. So if you want to play along with a pattern that predictably follows your chords, an arranger is your best option.

The Juno is designed to rapidly flesh out a sequence and pattern of sequences by preprogramming the chord progressions for quick activation with the drum pads during a performance.

It was originally marketed as a stage piano with a few workstation features. I still regret selling mine off 3 years ago.
