Permanent Magnet, Problems ?

Iattached a utensil bowl with a permanent magnet on top of my electric piano (Clavia nord electro). Can this permanent magnet cause (long-term) damage to the electronics?

no it wont effect anything to do with electronics, but will effect magnetic tape, but very few are still using that medium anymore.

It would also have that effect on a Fender Rhodes or any other electromechanical instrument, but if the Nord is using ROMpler or electronic modelling technology then magnetic fields wouldn't mess with anything but the toroidal transformer in the power supply or any coupling transformers in the audio path.

It would take a pretty massive magnet even then, like a 6 lb speaker magnet placed in the right spot to have any effect at all.

I tried to do that with my Rhodes but unless you get inside the unit, it won't have any effect. You'd have to use those cryogenically cooled magnets that they use in MRI's to have any effect.

Also, older keyboards that use floppy discs as a storage medium might be affected by a strong magnetic source.
