PSR 1000

Hello, trying to help a friend, he has a yamaha PSR1000, old but still works perfectly. My question is can midi files be downloaded and transferred to the key board via the floppy drive

Yes, you should be able to do that. The Owner's Manual contains brief instructions on playing back MIDI songs which are stored on a diskette. It says that when you make a song recording, Format 0 is used, so I assume that any Format 1 Standard MIDI Files should be converted to Format 0 before using them. You may also need to edit the Bank Select and Program Change messages to ensure that only voices and kits which are available will be requested, as well as checking the System Exclusive messages to ensure that only effects and other features which are available will be requested.
