DO NOT PUT TACKY LABELS ON YOUR BOARD.

If you look at your board you will see groups of Black keys.

First 2 then 3 then 2 then 3 etc...

Use those as your guide as to which key is which.

The white key to the immediate left of the first group of 2 is always C.

The White key to the left of the group of three is F.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Basically, use the alphabet to find your keys.

You're welcome.

No need to schmutz up your keys.

It's a simple alphabet progression, from left to right.

Have fun :D

Google is your friend, find a chart like this and print it out.

I gives you the numbering system and Middle C is C4 and the start of the number 4 octave.

If you need help learning the key notes a temporary assistant is a product called the piano rake. Yeah. It's available on line and from Amazon. Eventually we need to take the training wheels off. But until we get there this is least intrusive way to label the keyboard. Merry Christmas.

Two black keys and three black keys . repeated

The two black keys are donkey ears either side of the donkey D
Obviously C and E are left and right of D
Cute Donkey Eats.
The other 4 keys . . Fat Girls Are Big.

I was encouraged to remove my stickers as early as possible.
Suggested to remember C left of the Donkey.
Place right hand thumb on it and expand fingers so that pinky is placed on the next C = one octave.
Find middle C and do it the other way . .pinky on C and thumb on the next C to the left.

All of the keys between pinky and thumb to be played with all fingers.

The problem with stickers is that you tend to play every note with the pointer finger only.

To answer the original question . . Alex.
C1 is the beginning of the first octave. On a 61 key keyboard it will usually be the first key far left. . . C2 will be octave 2 and C3 will be octave 3 and so on. .

CUTE DONKEY EATS . . FAT GIRLS ARE BIG

For god's sake man, there's only 7 letters in the entire musical alphabet. There's less to memorize than a phone number.

Just remember. 2..3..2..3..2..3... C...F...C...F...C...F...

The Sharps (#) and the Flats (b) are just subdivisions of the same block and they are the names of the black keys..

The only stupid thing about them is that they can be both sharp and flat so D# is also Eb, for some stupid reason only the Gregorian monks can explain. :p

D# is the black key to the immediate right of the D key. And so on and so on.

This is less difficult than figuring out the traffic signs in Toronto :D :D :D

12 notes to an octave, and all octaves are repeats of the one below it, just double the lower frequencies. and octaves could theoretically increase to X-Ray frequencies if we ever meet a species who can enjoy it. :D

Give a man a fish, you feed him a nervous breakdown.

Teach a man to fish, and he gets it right the first time. :D :D :D

BTW the piano rake is so temporary it is layed down and removed in a few seconds. It's doesn't mar the keys with sticky residue.
