Sometimes I can recognise a sound or effect when I hear it, other times I can't.

There can be studio effects that would make it hard to match correctly.

Getting the notes right is only half the battle .

Does anyone know the name of this keyboard sound in this new song PRETTY BOY.

Thanks

It's some sort of bell or chime or EP with a slightly detuned oscillator and a bit of reverb and delay.

Start with a couple of pulse waveforms and work from there.

Thanks . Yea I'm thinking EP and one without much attack or plonkyness to it. The modulation wheel pushed up is giving some of the effect. Front runner is a Tine EP.

What instrument are you trying to duplicate it with?

It sounds very analog to me.

A ROMpler may not cut it.

I've got a FA-06 Roland. Expansion pack for pianos downloaded. Can layer sounds too.

Early days as song just came out. Yes I posted on you tube too.

I find this very interesting. Crafting sounds is very rewarding, I love 70's and 80's music, especially synth-based sounds. I am working on "War" from Rocky 4 at the moment.

I have the most fun tweaking sounds on the Sequential Circuits Take 5.

Even if you already own the latest and greatest multi-engined VA synth, there is nothing more immediate and rewarding than flipping a few switches and twisting a few knobs to create the sound of planet earth being devoured by locusts :)

Dang, you almost owed me a new keyboard -- home PC that is -- good thing I wasn't taking a larger swig of brew! Too funny...

Did I mention the locusts have delay and distortion FX and can be made to self oscillate? ;)

Gary ....

Here's another great keyboard performance. Sounds very much like straight piano with some echo , possibly old upright sound. I don't think it's honkey tonk though as that is a slightly different sound.

Sounds like straight piano with the sustain pedal depressed. No reverb, no delay, no FX at all.

It looks like an ordinary spinet.

I dunno about you but I cannot play without my sustain pedal.. well for piano sounds anyway.

Tried it in a pub that has an old piano where it wasn't working. I felt like a beginner again. Lol

I've never had a piano lesson in my life.

Piano voices are my weakest link.

I'm really much more a synth/organ player.
