Roland A80 setup

I have a Roland A80, it was donated to our organization. This is our first use of midi programming and need a little guidance. Can you recommend any midi modules to start out with? We also have a Roland Fantom G6 and a Yamaha Motif ES8 can we set that up in connection with the A80 or does it not work that way?

You can MIDI it up to any keyboard synth or MIDI module with a proper MIDI port on it.

As for recommended modules?

Roland Integra 7

Yamaha Motif Rack

Yes I was looking at the manual and it was showing that there should be a midi input selector in between the A80 and other keyboard. I did try connecting the Fantom to it but couldn't get them to work together. May have been something I over looked.

The Fantom should work.

1) Connect MIDI IN to MIDI OUT and MIDI OUT TO MIDI IN always.

2) Make sure the A80 and the Fantom are sending and receiving on the same MIDI Channel.

3) Worst case scenario, do a full factory reset on the boards if they still won't talk.

At this point they should be talking to each other.
