Roland E=16. Problems recording

Have just acquired this machine and am trying to record what I play to then playback and sing along with. I am in choir and am given music for new songs and I need to be able to hear my part of the harmony. The red and green lights on the record/playback button do illuminate. I can hear what I play but cannot get the machine to playback what I have tried to record. Any suggestions?

Have you read the manual? (Starting on PDF page 103.) I think we'll need more details (button by button, etc.) as to what you're doing before we can tell you whether you're doing something wrong or if the keyboard is acting up.

By the way, I'm assuming that you know it's not recording audio, but songs using the arranger's features. I'm not sure if it will do what you want it to do.
