Hi there, I’m hoping to buy a Roland Fantom 08 and would be very interested to see comments about it. I play in a five piece covers band and from what I’ve seen the keyboard offers lots of flexibility, particularly with the keyboard switch group enabling changing seamlessly to different sounds. I’m also very keen to hear what people think of the free expansion packs. Are the accoustic piano, strings and brass free expansions noticeably better than the onboard sounds? I was hoping with NAMM 25, Roland might have announced an updated Fantom 0 as it seems to have been largely ignored since it was launched in 2022!

If history is a guide, 3 years is nothing for Roland.
Juno DS was around for 9 years with no hardware update, before being replaced by Juno D.
FA was current for over 7 years before it was effectively replaced by the Fantom-0.
Gaia was around for 13 years before the Gaia 2 came out.
JD-XA and JD-XI came out 10 years ago, both still current.
VR-09 is 12 years old and still current (though they changed the case colors, and added a 73-key version).
The still-current Integra-7 is almost 13 years old.
So "almost 3 years old" is pretty much still a new release for them.
