This 20 year old instrument has become tempermental in winter. It is used weekly in a church unheated most of the time. When I switch it on,lights flash all over the place, it plays by itself, strange numbers appear in the display and it refuses to respond to anything. Leave it alone for 20 minutes and it all resets itself and sorts itself out. I am thinking it is cold or damp or maybe a crack in the motherboard. Any suggestions ?

After 20 years the electrolytic capacitors are beginning to rot and leak.

The only solution is replace them all before they really crap out.

Welcome.

20 years in an unheated building suffering wild swings in temperature and humidity and you would be suffering yourself.

Sounds like it is the start of component breakdown.

One day it will fail and the congregation will be singing arcapella.

So before that happens have a tech look at it for c$200 and/or pass round a bigger collection plate to obtain the funds for a replacement.
