I have a question. I have an old Roland KR-4500. It was a good sounding keyboard. It started having, what I would call, effects problems. Such as the reverb would stay on and would finally turn off after a couple of minutes playing with the keyboard. Now it has started to take awhile for the sound to coming on as it is powered up. After letting it warm up, the volume would work. Now I have to sound at all. all functions seem to work but no sound. I have patched it though an out source amp and even a PA system but no sound.

Any ideas?

Jim

The thing is almost 30 years old.

I can't locate a service manual for it on the web.

At that age electrolytic caps start to dry out.

MAYBE replacing all the electrolytic caps might bring it back to life again.

Unless you are capable of doing the job yourself the cost would be prohibitive.

Start looking around for a newer board.

Whatever you do Jim, do not ask for advice on which keyboard you should buy.

We are sure to add at least $500 to your budget though our collective suggestions.
