Roland pk 5 and u220

hi just bought a roland pk 5 and a roland u220.pk5 midi out u220 midi in
when i switch on pressing bass it plays drums if i press poly it plays a piano
which mistake did I do ??? wrong Midi channel ??? please help

Wow, I used to have a U220 many many years ago - it was great, particularly for its day. I can still remember one of the demo pieces.
Almost certainly a midi channel issue. I seem to remember you could assign 6 voices on the U220, and each would be on a separate midi channel.
