I've been using Garageband on a Mac desktop with an old Roland FP3 piano, and want to update the keyboard to a 49 or 61 key one. I'm used to a hammer action so anything with a more piano-like keybed would be an advantage - it won't be hammer action but could be semi-weighted or just a decent feeling action.
I don't need a sequencer, chords or arpeggiator. I'd just like the maximum available integration with Garageband. I know Garageband is limited in scope so just all the essentials will do. Some midi controls would be useful, together with pitch/mod.
I've never tried out any of the common 49/61 keyboards so feel free to go over the basics with me. What can I achieve and what's "good enough" at the budget end but still with a good keybed?
I'd be very grateful for help with this - I want to make progress with an album of songs. Andy
