Blir kjempeglad for hvert eneste svar!

Hello!

I am looking for new keyboard in price range 150-250 £. Im searching after a keyboard, that anyhow does NOT need to depend on a conection to a computer for working. My keyboard need to have the oppertunity to connect to a speaker! Thats very important. Im going to use it when im practising home, and when i am playing with friends. I dont want the keyboard to have more than 37 tangents!

Hope you guys answer!

Sincerely Mikkel

You are asking too much for too little money.

The stuff we were discussing in private message were "dumb" MIDI controllers. like the Axiom you linked. These all require a computer hookup in order to be able to play any notes.

If you are looking for a small form factor, 37 key synth, with professional audio line outs, then your options are more limited.

Some suggestions are

The Microkorg XL

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Korg-MICROK...UZJ2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1358913001&sr=8-2

or the original Microkorg

http://www.amazon.co.uk/quot-microK...S0SC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358913001&sr=8-1

The Novation Mininova

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Novation-MI...cal-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1358913083&sr=1-3

or the Roland Gaia

http://www.amazon.co.uk/ROLAND-GAIA...struments&ie=UTF8&qid=1358913123&sr=1-1-spell

or the Korg Microstation

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Korg-MICROS...cal-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1358913176&sr=1-1

or the Korg Micro Arranger

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MICROARRANG...cal-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1358913222&sr=1-1

Or the M-Audio Venom. If you shop around that one's been discontinued and is selling for around $199 these days in the US.

To be 100% sure, these do not depend on a computer/ipad whatever to work? Thank you so much for answering!!!

They're all stand alone professional grade and connectivity instruments. They CAN all work with a computer for things like sequencing and patch editing but the upshot is you can pretty much just plug any of them into an amp and start playing and programming their sounds from the front panel and keyboard.

Also, if these machines are too much for your budget you can look into buying used instruments from Craigslist or Ebay for a considerable savings. All of these keyboard models have been around for a while now and there are a few used ones floating around at considerable savings.

Also the 2013 NAMM show is starting up in a couple of days and you might want to keep an eye out for new products which will be released this coming week.

Also, to help you make a choice, I'd advise looking up each synth model on youtube to get a better idea which one best suits your style of music.

Nice that you take time Gary!

But you mentioned something interesting there. I am playing Indie Rock, and im not sure about what i should get. A keyboard or a Synth? Bands like Wombats, Simple Minds and New order produced sounds i like, and want to play. But i relly dont like techno and all the kind of stuff. So what is the different between a keyboard and a synth? Can a synth make the same sounds like a keyboard? Basically, im going to use it in a band! Now you maybe understand what im going to use it to. Sorry for beeing a idiot, but i want to have it clear before i buy something:)

You specified you wanted 37 keys. The only things you'll find with those form factors are micro synths and MIDI controllers.

If you are looking for a larger Keyboard I'd recommend the Casio XW-P1. That one can do it all. Or if you need a smaller form factor then I'd go with the Korg Microstation or Korg Microarranger.. Those two have mini keys instead of full sized.

I don't really know the Wombats' stuff so I can't say anything about it but the XW-P1 could easily handle a Simple Minds cover and a whole lot more.

I'd recommend checking out some Youtube demo videos on any synths I recommend. Only you can be the judge if they have the sounds you are looking for..

http://www.amazon.co.uk/CASIO-XW-P1/dp/B006ZGENGK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358941987&sr=8-1

Anyway, you have to make your own decisions. Full sized or mini keys? 3, 4, 5, or more octaves. Realistic instruments or intense synth sounds? Max budget? Professional style line outputs or built in speakers only?

Budget is a big limiting factor here. If you need line outs for professional stage work they don't come cheap.

Also I don't want to rain on any parades here, but what is your skill level? Are you a total novice to playing an instrument or a keyboard? If so, then you'll definitely need something with built in arpeggiators.

Consider picking up something used from craigslist or ebay. You won't be out that much money if it doesn't work out and you'll be able to get much better features on a slightly older instrument. I wouldn't buy anything older than 5 years old though.

This is not a synth. This is a 30 year old toy. Don't even consider it. I'd be amazed if it was still functional for much longer.

Also the low priced, low end Casios and Yamahas will not have audio line out connections that you will need in a working band situation.

It's ok to look at older hardware on Ebay, but not 30 year old stuff. I'd say nothing older than 5 years max.

BTW, what part of the world are you in? Your first posts were in English Pounds but that link was from Australia? It would help me to help you if I knew what part of the world you are shopping in.

Also you didn't answer my skill level question. Do you have any musical training at all?

Sorry Gary.

My skill level isn't high at all. I have played Piano for a long time, but i am completely n00b inside the keyboard world. I am from Norway as well. This "Toy" was used by The Wombats in the link i sent you. It seem to work quite well on that video though. But that little toy produced a lot of different sounds that i like. Not all these techno stuff. Btw, I dont want some kind of a drum beat or whatever on my keyboad/synth.. But now you may have an better idea of what I want....

OK, first of all if you're used to a full sized piano you probably won't be happy with anything with mini keys. Unless you are specifically limited in space where you are playing I'd recommend a full sized 5 octave keyboard ROMpler synth with a relatively modern collection of samples.

One thing I can assure you is that the Wombats did not pay $300 for that antique "toy" and yes when Casio first sold it back in 84 it was a toy for children to play with.

Here's a couple of good suggestions for professional keyboards that would serve you far better on the road than the stuff I've listed so far.

Korg M50 5 Octave Version

http://www.korg.com/M50

Roland Juno GI

http://www.rolandus.com/products/details/1126/457

Yamaha MOX6

http://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/synthesizers/mox_series/?mode=series

Any one of these is what you should be considering if you seriously want to perform on stage with any style or genre of music. Any one of these would serve you well for years to come and you should consider them to be an investment in your future.

You may not appreciate the arpeggiators and built in sequencers at first, but eventually you will discover their usefulness both in the studio as well as on stage and they all have enormous built in libraries of sounds to cover absolutely any style or genre of music you could imagine.

These are the entry level professional machines from the big three. If you wish to perform for paying customers, none of these machines will embarrass you on stage.

Those instruments I listed are doable for $400 each if you shop around carefully and buy one used btw.

Otherwise, new they will run about $600 to $700

Nice

But are alle these keyboards able to conect to a little speaker on my room?

In my home studio I use a set of Studio Monitors from M-Audio

http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MAudioBX5D2New.html

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.family&ID=studiomonitors

http://www.behringer.com/EN/Category/Loudspeakers-and-Studio-Monitors.aspx?s=B500

Or you could simply use a small keyboard amp for practice at home.

http://www.behringer.com/EN/Category/Instrument-Amplifiers.aspx?s=K100

These instruments all have standard 1/4" unbalanced line outs which are compatible with any standard professional amp or PA system or mixing board.

Wow!!! What an amazing little piece of gear. If it were a few hundred cheaper and I wasn't already in danger of starring in my own episode of "Hoarders" I would definitely pick one up :D :D :D

Definitely have it bookmarked now though :)
