Yamaha keyboard suddenly not working at all

Hello, I have a Yamaha DGX 640 that has always worked just fine. Turned it on today and nothing. No sound, no lights, nothing. We've checked the wall outlet to confirm there is no electrical issue there. Any ideas please? Thank you.

Can it run on batteries? Try those if it can.

Otherwise, check the adapter with a DVOM. If the voltage checks out then something internal has blown. See if there's a user replaceable fuse.

Beyond that, there's not much you can do other than take it in to a service center for repair.

If you live in a rural area or if there's been a recent lightning strike in your area a power surge may have blown it out.

Usually a good idea to run your electronic appliances thru a surge protector.

Before you buy a new power adaptor, plug it into the mains and your keyboard.

Press and hold the furthest key on the keybed then turn on the power.

If the DGX boots then you are good to go if not you may like to test out the power connector, this is a digital multi meter

These are only $10 and even one this cheap is OK for minor checks and tests.

The dial is set to DC voltage and you touch each of the probes to the tip and sleeve of the power connector with it plugged into the mains.

If no reading the power connector goes to the recycling and you buy a new one.
