When I play a chord on the keyboard it will sustain as long as I keep the keys pushed down with my hand. When i take my hand off the sustain stops even when I am pushing on the sustain pedal. the pedal does not keep the chord sustained. i am using a yamaha pedal. advice please.

Things you might consider:
1. Is the pedal plugged in?
2. Is it plugged in to the correct bit of the keyboard? There's a few potential places it might have accidentally ended up.
3. Does another pedal work with this keyboard?
4. Has this pedal ever worked with this keyboard?
5. Has this pedal ever worked with another keyboard?
5. Has another pedal ever worked with this keyboard?
6. Does this pedal work with some patches?
7. Check the manual. Can the sustain be switched off? If so, is it?
