Is there such an instrument out there ,,,,,,,, ??
"A KEYBOARD WITH BASS BUTTONS LIKE AN ACCORDION" ?
or "A SMALL KEYBOARD WITH JUST BASS BUTTONS" ?

Would be a great invention!

I grew up playing accordion,,, which I cannot play anymore for health/physical reasons.
Am now playing keyboard....... But I would love to play buttons for BASS.

Yes there is, they're made by Orla, and do either accordion bass, piano keys, or accordion bass and c / b system buttons (all white so programmable). Here is a link to one site selling them http://www.castiglioneaccordions.com/orlakeyboards.html hope this helps, was looking at buying one myself for practice instead of a fr1x roland

It certainly has plenty of buttons SeaGt.
It looks weird and complicated.

And drawbars, too!

It's the "monster" version of the Orla. The "regular" version looks less complicated:

And then there's the "no keys, just a typewriter" version:

But for me, it's gotta be the "Star Trek navigation control panel plus drawbars" version. :D

Hi

My uncle is an Accordion player. His band wanted him to play the Keyboard. He had a base button "box" made that was connected, I believe, through a Midi hook up. His Keyboard was a Roland. I don't know much more about it. I have no idea how it was made . I've seen him play and it sounds fantastic.

Maybe you can convince your insurance company that it's a therapy appliance and get them to cover most of it?

Or put in a watchlist on Ebay and maybe a used one will pop up for a decent price?

But ultimately you have to ask yourself, "Will it be a positive influence on my life if I break down and buy one or do I want to save all my money for my lousy kids after I go?"

Whatever your decision, just remember you can't take it with you no matter what you do.

If finances are a problem . . (and I agree 2g is big bucks) maybe you can rent it.
In Aus. we have "rent now buy later" companies. You pay them monthly for 3 years (say $80) then they will offer if to you to buy it outright for (say $80) at the end of the contract.
I would be surprised if USA did not have same deal.
Go for it Jerry. You need it!

The site I linked above in Wisconsin not only offers on site financing, but they also have a button where you can make your best offer.

That means the price is at least somewhat negotiable.

I'd suggest calling them up on their 800 number and see what's the lay of the land.

It may be an open box unit or demo that they are desperate to unload.

You maybe be able to get them to knock a couple hundred more off of the sticker price.

Either way, a life without music is not a life I'd consider worth living.

Goferit Jerry!!! You only live once man :D

I know this post is 2 years old but just for Some background information.
Accordion organs are arround for quit some time from the '70's and accordion keyboards from the mid '80's
Mostly made by italian brands like Elka and Orla.
Elka had the most of different models over the years with chromatic keyboards and piano keys with 96 and 120 bas buttons with 41 piano keys
A other brand was Solton (by Ketron lab.) who made a couple in begining of the '90.
Elka made also a 120 bas midi console.
Other brands like Master Midi and Midi Tech take over this market for bas button midi consoles and chromatic keyboards mostly build in models or stand alone midi consoles.
I had serveral brands and models over the years as a accordion player
The best Accordion Midi Keyboard by far is the Elka AMK 801/800.
They where pretty expensive in the '80 and cost a small fortune but never took of really on the big market
I build my own accordionkeyboard with 96 bass midi console from Master Midi about 8 years ago and played it ever scince.

Well it was a expensive type of instrument because there where not many sold worldwide and only in particulair country's
Elka musical instruments made the holy graal with the AMK serie in the '80
It had not only touch response on the keys with weigthded piano keys but also on the bass buttons (like Orla later on made) but these Elka midi controllers where so complex to operate and program that it was a pain in the..... for accordion players and music store owners.
It have features more like a synth then a midi controller.
But then again this brand was ahead of that time with midi technique before General Midi was developed to the standard norm.
I still got 3 of these controllers build like a tank

I developed, modified and maked serveral accordion(keyboard) systems over the years.
Because it's the only way I can play.
But the mean reason is there is not much to find on recent keyboards with bas buttons and piano keys.
