I moved the Korg Kaossilator post to a new thread in the Korg subforum, as I thought it merited its own topic.

That seems more appropriate Michael. It wouldn't seem so off topic if Ray had given us a bit of warning as to what the content of the video was actually referring to.

Thanks,

Gary ;)

Michael,
I would not have posted it there. The Korg people are smarter than that. That device is exactly what Gary said . . .

Quote . . EDIT >>> Sorry I blew up Ray. After getting a few minutes into the video I saw it actually was Covid-19 related, though it really is just a sleazy marketing gimmick of Korg capitalizing on the free publicity.

The video really belongs here .. NOT in the KORG forum.
The narrator suggested this as a time filler if we got isolated.
More a joke if you ask me!

Ray

I Disagree!
It is indeed a rubbish product! Designed for kids. I doubt the intelligent people here (especially Korg players) would even bother with this toy! That is why I posted it here under the COVID-19 subject.
You already had a crack at me Gary . . then a half hearted apology . . and now another crack!
Put your shirt back on man! I am not amused!

Jeez Ray. I'm sorry my comments rubbed you the wrong way but believe me there was no malice aforethought intended.

I enjoy your posts 99% of the time and know that you usually comport yourself with maturity and wisdom on the forums.

When you posted that message though, you posted it like a zero day spammer with no explanation. You actually have to watch the video longer than ten seconds to find out what it's actually about but it caught me off guard and I over reacted.

For that I apologise.

Now let's shove a cork in this and try to proceed like adults. :)

I may have overreacted. I just got riled when you fired off two rants at me. I would have overlooked one but two was too much. It broke my string.

Okay Gary . .
I agree now to proceed as usual as I noted you have apologised a few times. You explained your actions and I explained mine there is no malice.

I'm all good now :)

Cheers Ray

Alright now. Let's crack open a Stella Artois and drink to the poor bastards in Italy who are paying a $300 fine everytime they step outside for a breath of fresh air.

And while we're at it, let's hoist a few for all the professional entertainers and restaurateurs who are going to be laid off for an unspecified period of time :(

Update - Lost 2 more gigs which were significant. Supposedly they will be rescheduled into 2021, but one can't really count on that happening even if you have a new contract. On the other hand, I really don't want to be out among a large group of persons who could expose me and my mates to undue risk of getting fatally sick. Got to look on the bright side, and hope we all go through this in good health to perform again in public.

The EU is going into lockdown according to our News.

Here in the UK we (the old ones) are advised to self isolate and our Government advice is woefully inadequate.

Just got back from a specialist orthopaedic Hospital where I have been having follow up investigations to my hip replacement op. The Hospital was eerily quite compared to what it normally is.

One of the artists who we love to go and see has canceled her tour as has Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi who is touring in a Q&A talk show.

Our local groups are cancelling gigs.

Damn China should be forced to pay for their crimes, if they had gone into lockdown straight away this would not be happening worldwide.

Here in Canada there's a new announcement or press conference every 15 minutes.

We're already closing the borders to foreign nationals and Canadians abroad have been told to come back as soon as they are able.

I know a couple of idiot millenials who are overseas right now for vacations in Mexico and Thailand, one family who just flew out this past Saturday.

Theaters and large venues have been cancelling all weekend and now they have placed limitations on restaurants to take out only.

By tomorrow I expect we go into an Italian style lockdown where only supermarkets, pharmacies and gas stations will remain open. If not by tomorrow then definitely by the end of the week.

Canada is finally reacting to the situation but we face the same problem as everyone else. A severe shortage of tests. Without massive testing no one will be able to get a handle on this. The advice from the Chinese who are finally getting a handle on this is "MORE TESTING, MORE TESTING, MORE TESTING..."

And it's extremely unfair to blame China for this Col. This situation has been crawling with huge unknowns as it has developed for the past 4 months. NOBODY has foreseen these events.

Disease has no nationality. I expect idiots like Trump to call this a "foreign virus" but not a rational person.

Stay healthy, stay safe....

Life has become lifeless and worthless.

I've lost 20% of my financial holdings in the past two weeks.

We're all feeling the pain Ray.

We just have to live long enough to see a financial recovery. 2 to 5 years by my reckoning.

Figured I’d chip in. All future gigs have been cancelled by the venues for the foreseeable future and our state is under a Shelter in Place order (has been since the 26th). Had about $2000 of gigs and events scheduled (part-time as I’m a student), but all are cancelled. Honestly I’m more concerned about some elderly relatives who likely are infected and going downhill. Loss of income is quite annoying of course.

So what about you guys? Has it started happening to you already and what are your plans if and when it does?
You mentioned the word, retired. I don't believe that is in my vocabulary. I'm of the age, but you can't stop working unless you have enough money. I have some Investments but not enough to stop working. I've been working for over 10 years at a beautiful upscale Steakhouse. Two and a half weeks ago, everything closed down on Monday night and everything is closed until further notice.

Donald and the boys should have taken care of this long ago like South Korea did. This is the most realistic Democratic hoax I've ever seen. I was just getting ready to buy a Tesla. But now I'm going through savings and investment money just to pay the rent. And I can't play anywhere because, we are not supposed to be within 6 feet of anyone. In Texas, restaurants and bars and clubs have been closed for three weeks already. If you go to a restaurant, it's either the drive-thru or take out. I'm just thinking of all the musicians in town as well as all the waiters and servers and chefs and Cooks Intown who have lost their income suddenly. It's not good, and I hope it's over soon.

If I were more disciplined, I would have already recorded a CD by now. I've had enough time.

It seems to be the same just about everywhere now. I really feel for people working in hospitality. Tough times. I'm itching to go the pub, but that won't be happening any time soon!

It's starting to look more and more like 2020 will be a complete write off for gigging. Very challenging financially both on a band and individual level.

That is a total bummer!

On my selfish side . . will truly miss your September Melbourne concert Paul.
That saddens me.

On my compassionate side . . I am truly sorry for you guys missing out on performing live. Financially and emotionally you guys will suffer dearly. I feel for your pain.

So we need to come to terms that 2020 is a write off! I trust we all have the strength to ride the storm.

Who is Donald?

What is the Democratic hoax?

Remember not everyone lives in the USA.

Had the USA acted quicker with the lockdown many thousands of deaths would be saved and hence disruption would be far less than it is going to be. This is going to go on for months, not weeks.

It is not just the USA that has acted far to slowly, they all have, hell it was business as usual in Sweden last time I heard from my God Daughter who lives there.

Faced with all this death and disruption a few cancelled gigs is pretty meaningless.

Chill-out, buddy. No offense was intended.

Donald is the president of the United States. He claimed the whole thing was a democratic hoax, until it finally began to hit him that it was a serious issue. By then it was almost too late. Too late to act, too late to prevent major disruption to our society.

And it is far more than "a few canceled gigs." If your income depends on those few canceled gigs, then you have no income, like me, zero! Fortunately I'm doing okay financially, but most of my musician friends are not. So a few canceled gigs is a freaking big deal for them. They still have to have a place to live and make a car payment and eat.

Melbourne not cancelled yet mate but I’m not optimistic at this point.

This year will certainly wound us financially but our passion is as strong as ever...we’ll be back!
