Hi.
I've got a zip from my friend, and I think it's the Pa1000 files.
They all are in .stg format, so probably already converted.
Here is the Liverpool 1 and 2 styles for you to try.
They should load and play direct at your Pa5X as it's .stg files.

I'm not sure how big file allowed to attach here, but you can have it if you want it.
The file is 3.02MB
Gunnar...thank you so much for taking the time and effort to get an answer and send me these files. I'm almost there...I have downloaded the .stg files, however the "load" option is grayed out. Is there another step that I must take?

If you place the .stg files om a usb stick or in a folder at Pa5X, it should load as any stg-files without problems.
Why it's greyed out, I honesty don't know.
Did you download the 'Random' zip and extracted it as well? If so, see if it's different.
I'll check with my friend and ask if he have problems play the files.

The file is unzipped. Both Liverpool 1 and 2 come up in the PA5X as .STG files (along with the .STG icon) with their respective file sizes (342KB & 358KB.) After I click "Select All" from the Command Menu and then go back into the Command Menu, the Load function remains grayed out.

What happens if you i.ex. choose Player 1, and browse to the location and load one of the files into the player?
Does it load and play as if you choose any other stylefile?

While I've only had the player for a week and need to still learn how to navigate, however when I go to the "search" function it goes to the USB source. As far as choosing Player 1, it certainly isn't in either the Factory or User folders.

You will not find the files downloaded in the factory folder.

Try this:
Create a folder in the root of your USB stick and name it PA1000.KST
Create another new folder inside it, call it BANK1, and inside that one another named STYLE.
Put a copy of some or all the .stg files you downloaded into the style folder.

Then try load by browse to that folder and see what happens.

(As an easier solution, you can of course create this at your PC and copy it into USB stick or usermemory of Pa5X)

Wish I had the Pa5 here, but krossing my fingers. ๐Ÿคž

Edit / Added:

When browse to the xxx.KST folder you created, you have to load it into the PA, then save it at user directory.
Then you can load and play as you desire by load from there. So my friend says. ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒž

After following the directions, the attached is what is in the File section. The last item is the first time that there's a Style icon, but all I can do is copy it but it doesn't paste to a style user folder. Again, thank you for all your efforts...

You're on the right track. Don't give up.
I can see PA1000.KST

I've looked into my backup from PA5X aditional SD card, there I have all the .stg files stright into the KST folder.
Place the .stg files in the PA1000.KST or name it as you wish.

Try that, I've forgotten about it, and my mind refreshed a bit when I found my backup. I had different KST foldres with the single styles inside and it worked like a charm.

I also misunderstood my friend, because you can have many banks in a KST folder, but the filestructure should be
title.KST / BANK 1 / STYLE
(BANKS should be numbered upwards if you like to have several banks inside the KST folder)

I'm very sorry for my mixed up of information. I'm getting old.... ๐Ÿ˜ž ๐Ÿ˜

Don't give up, you're going to manage it! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒž

It's my pleasure if I could be for any help at all. ๐ŸŒž

What do you see if press the .KST folder at screen?
If the .stg files is placed in that folder, they would be visible and ready to choose.

The KST folder(s) works similiar to the category folders at preset area.

Try this:
- Create a TEST.KST folder at your USB stick, and copy the .stg (styles) into that folder.

When you choose drives (as seen upper left corner at picture you posted), you can see what drives connected.
Browse to the USB and then the TEST.KST folder. When click that at your PA5 screen, you should see all the styles in it and be able to choose just as from the preset categories.

The brand new OS at Pa5 have a workflow that is more like at a PC compared to PA4 and 1000.

I suppose you've seen through the video manuals from Korg?
If not, it's lots of info to see and listen to at this page:

The prior .KST folder that I created has the 2 Liverpool styles in them. Attached is a picture of what I see. When I select one of the styles, the load function is grayed out. The copy function is available, so I copied and then tried to paste to the User 1 Styles, but the paste option is grayed out. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...

It does not work.

Creating a .kst folder and putting the files in it the files do not load.

Pressing File then Menu bring up an import utility and that starts to load but does not complete.

Hi

It's couple of months since I had Pa5X here to play at now, so I'm more than a bit rusty.

I added a 256GB SD card in the slot at the backside, it was then a 'permanent' userdive, and usually transferred the files via USB cable connection to PC.
Now I can see how the filestructure is at my SD card backup.

Example:
At the PC, I created a folder named Mystyles 1.KST
Inside that I placed several or many single (stylename).stg files.

That worked fine, no problem as far as I remember.

I also created xxx.KST folder(s) with several other xxx.KST folders inside where the stylefiles is/was placed.
Then the upper KST folder works like 'category', and those inside like 'undercategories' with the .stg files inside.

Then:
Copied the upper.KST folders with contents into the SD card.
Loaded files into the player(s) by browse to the SD Drive and to the destination I wanted to select from.
Worked like a charm.
I'm quite sure I did similiar and load same way from USB stick as well.... ๐Ÿค”

Hopefully some experienced Pa5 users see this and chime in to help.

Cross my fingers. ๐Ÿคž

Would you be able to tell what I may be doing incorrectly? Thank you in advance...

Hi.
I start think about if it's some confusion between import older styles (xxx.sty) files to convert, and to load already compatible (xxx.stg) files into the player ready to play? ๐Ÿค”

As I remember it, but my memory may fool me, it was not nessesary to use the import function when files already are converted or in Pa5X's .stg format, just browse to the location it's stored at and pick it to load into the desired player.

Btw,
the zipfile Liverpoolstyles1&2 contains ready converted styles with .stg exstension , and so does the zipfile I uploaded to WeTransfer.
So, teoritically, if rename the folder that contain the styles by add .KST at the end of the foldername, the Pa5X should read the files inside as it is.

I'll see if I get time to make a phonecall to my friend this evening and do it step by step at the Pa5 and write the recipe that work in a post here.

But now, I have to prepare for the great pleasure it is to visit my dentist office. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I've been watching this thread with interest, but because I had a crazy busy weekend, I didn't have time to check it out.
So let me try and help. Here's how I do it.
Firstly, on your pc make a New Folder. Call it whatever you want.
Mine is called Korg Mixed Styles.
Put all the STG files that you want to transfer into it. OK so far? Now... Leave the folder on your pc.

Now go to your keyboard.
Firstly, I will assume that you have made a Backup. If not, do so, and save it on a memory (USB) stick to your F drive. This is the drive to the right of the Matrix, and on top of your Pa5x.

You will then have a Folder called whatever you named it.
Mine as an example let's call it NewBackup 02122024. Kst (today's date)

Once finished, take the USB stick out. Go to your pc where you will have the STG files that you want to transfer

Open your newly made or existing KST Backup Folder.
You will see it comprises numerous folders.
Open the one called STYLES.

Now... REALLY IMPORTANT. READ THIS SEVERAL TIMES

Add to that page the COMPLETE FOLDER (korg mixed styles) with the STYLES you want to transfer in it.
DO Not try to put it inside the existing STYLES folder or the Korg will not find it. It must be separate

When you have added your new folder (korg mixed styles) onto BUT NOT INSIDE the existing STYLES folder you can check by reopening the Styles Folder, and you need to see that you now have another completely separate folder within it called Korg Mixed Styles.

Back to the keyboard.
Now put the USB stick back into F drive.
Find your Korg Backup 02122024. SELECT ALL
LOAD.

Let the Backup run.

Once finished, you will find your new folder. Press Styles /USER section and you'll be able to access and play the new files.
You Cannot load STG files directly from the USB stick on the Pa5x, and I think that's maybe where the confusion has been.

Let us know how you get on.

SUCCESS!!!!!!!! Keith - thank you so much for the very detailed (and clearly accurate) instructions. I read them very carefully and it worked the first time! I really appreciated the time and effort that was taken here. I have to send a separate "thank you" to Gunnar who went out of his way to do much searching in an attempt to get me to the finish line. Your repeated responses to my questions are truly appreciated, and I hope that your visit to the dentist wasn't painful. I must say that my first week with the PA5X has been quite an adventure, and each day I learn something new. My computer has numerous tabs open with the various tutorials on Youtube. Again, thank you all very much for your time and effort. I hope that I can one day help with a question that you may have...

Hi PJT
Great! I'm pleased that between us we have been able to get you up and running with your Liverpool 01/02 and other styles. I think Gunnar deserves at least half the credit too!

I've only had my Pa5x since June, having come from Yamaha, and learning the Korg file system has been tough!

Remember that now you can add more styles to your folder, but you MUST load them into the Korg for it to see them.
As far as I'm aware there's no way (yet) to be able to play styles directly from a USB stick. Maybe a future firmware update from Korg will make that possible?

Whilst I was looking at this post I remembered that I have a Liverpool 03 file! Check up later and I'll post it for you.

* Update Unable to post the file as the site does not allow .STG files.....
I'll send you a pm.

So for now, enjoy your Pa5x.
We all help each other here.

Keith UK
