I don't think it does VST but it does do soundfonts and there are some amazing soundfonts out there if you look around.

Apparently it can also work with VSTs, Soundfonts, or MIDI devices.

didn't see anything about VST support? It appears the last update for this player was in 2014 according to info on the site. Where did you see VST support?

Here's a couple of screenshots for the MIDI Player I use. In the Settings page you can see it mentions VSTi in the top left corner.
