Wow!
That JD-800 totally rocks, and looks great in your rig.
Have you seen the white version out of the UK?
Can I ask what VSTis your running?
I just got the FM 7, and I really like it.
It really fattens up my samplers.
thanks 4 the picture

Yeah - I saw that white one. That couldn't have been a cheap mod!

I'm running the following:

  • SonicProjects OP-X PRO-II (Oberheim - probably my favorite as it nails most of the 80's sounds!)
  • Native Instruments Alicia's Keys
  • GSi VB3
  • Native Instruments Pro-5 (Prophet 5)
  • Korg Legacy (only when I miss my PolySix)

Here's a shot of my baby. The snakes nest of cables and the mixer on the floor are too embarrassing to include in the shot :D :D :D

nice clean setup!
so, whats the box you are running your CX-3 into?
Is that a leslie sim?
and what is that big speaker on the bottom on your right?
is it an 18" speaker bin for the mains?
and I wondered where your amp/monitor is?
is it on that pole facing back at you? or behind you somewhere?
And is your Casio on the bottom front your main board?
I'd like to see the "pilot's view" of your setup...

Just a heads up guys for attaching an image inline in this thread.

Step one : Compose message and upload image files.

Step two : Post the reply

Step three: Right click the images and copy the link location.

Step four: Edit the message again and put in these tags.

(square bracket)img(close bracket)paste the url of the image(square bracket)/img(close bracket)

***(Not sure about spaces between the square brackets and the url. Try one or the other. it either works or it doesn't)

And then post the edited message again.

At least that's how I did it.

The box on top of my CX3 is a Neo Ventilator Leslie 122 simulator pedal. It is the closest sound to a real leslie that I've ever found.
The boxes on the near right of the photo are the back side of the PA mains, and the bottom is a bass bin w/ 2- 15 inch speakers.
My monitor is two Mackie speakers placed behind be, not seen in the picture.
The pole you're seeing is for LED stage lights.
The Casio PX3 is the lower keyboard I am playing, the XPW1 is above the PX3.
Sorry I don't have a "pilots view", I just stumbled across this pic that someone else shared with me. I never think about taking pictures of my rig, unless someone here posts their rig pics.......lol Don

Oops, I was partly wrong about the PA. That actually was a Cerwin Vega 18" sub-cabinet on the botom with (2) JBL sudo 3 way ( 2-15 & horn) cabinets on top of it. I play in 2 bands, and the other band has the set-up I mentioned in my last post. Don

Hey Don!
thanks for the quick reply.
So, how do the Mackies work for you as far as
do they give you enough low end for monitoring your keys?
Like for your Organ sounds?
And how do you like the LED lights, as opposed to the
standard PARs? I know they use less power, but do they get bright enough?
I haven't seen them outside of the music stores, are they just a wash of light,
or do they have pointable beams, so to speak?
And Since you have a venitlator, do you think it is feasable to take
the electronics out of the pedal and install them directly inside of
a Korg C3? and just install the switches some where? Maybe down by the
fast and slow buttons on the control panel?
Just a crazy thought I had...

Kirkwood, I'm sorry I missed your last post. I'm gone a lot during the week with out access to the forums.
Mackies- The Mackies I have are the TH15 models (15" speaker) and have more then enough bottom end for the range of sounds I use...key bass to strings all covered pretty well. In retrospect the 12' was probably the better match just for keys, but I also use. them as a small PA when needed. The one thing is that these speakers always have a low hiss, not noticeable in use but it's still there. My CX3 and my pianos all sound good thru them though.
Re LEd - I'm using Charvet 4-Bar TRI fixtures and like them a lot. They are splash lighting versus throwing a beam, but they throw a lot of light for a simple system. I have some small 2 inch "spots" that do throw a beam and use them for that effect. Light settings are all programed via a DMX controller so all you have to do is push a button to change the scenes. I think I would rather have the LED rather than PARs, and if I needed more light I would just add two more of the 4 bar fixtures. They are light weight, easy to move, and fast set-up without anyone helping me. All my lights will run on 1 regular wall outlet with out tripping a breaker, and they never get hot.
RE Ventilator - I hadn't thought of trying to install it in my rack, or the organ but suppose it could be done. I have an Ashby Solutions remote control foot switch I use to control the Ventilator with my left foot, so I never have to touch the Vent once I set it. Ashby also has "half moon" switches you can install on the organ if that is preferred. Don

I've added some hardware to my rig since I posted my last pics. I'm still waiting on some backordered shelving to make it all neat and tidy but in the meantime here's an updated flowchart of what I'm running these days.

Here's my light weight rig for easy in-out situations. Casio Xwp1 on top with Neo Ventilator leslie sim for Hammond sounds, Casio PX5S lower for piano, EP etc. Using an Apple Ipad to manage the sounds via usb midi.

Hi Don - how's the PX5S compared to any other (giggable) digital pianos you've tried or owned over the years?
Also, for this rig, do you run the Neo Vent in stereo through your Mackies?
