Just back from a concert by a trio of Canadian musicians.
Sultans of String.
Awesome concert and not a keyboard in sight.

Katie Melua appears to be a fan; there seem to be many. I first heard her on a compilation CD that I got through my wife from one of her colleagues who is a part time jazz singer. Pretty soon I was purchasing a bunch of her CDs. When I mention her to amateur female singers, a lot of them go 'oh yeah' as in of course who doesn't know. I've also heard cover bands doing the Eva Cassidy versions of songs: for sure Eva would adjust the arrangement where she thought it might be improved. Whenever I go looking for fake book pages on the web, I frequently run into Eva Cassidy arrangements and/or wanna be's - one problem is Eva would use jazz chords and staggered changes that elude ordinary players.Eva was an amazing singer. Loved her voice. Over the Rainbow is another and Katie Melua did a virtual duet with her after she died which was just gorgeous and tear jerking . . I will see if I can find it. Been awhile but thanks for arousing me.
