edit: yes I got a message from it almost immediately after watching the whole video. The saying immediately came to me "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." It was not about the tragic death. It was about the beliefs they portrayed. "My people are destroyed for lack of identity." Same thing, identity is knowledge. Identity is foundation and reason. "Someone" seeks to destroy the identity of "my people" and they especially target the young. Unfortunately it works.

Wow, all these rock and folk rock ballads got me jonesing for some of my favorite bands from the 60's and 70's.

Strawbs: Where is this Dream of your Youth

Gary ;)
just the first one so far but wow!. I used to think you older 60's guys were so cool listening to your full albums and stuff I never heard while I just had a huge 45 collection and about 3 albums :) I want to find the lyrics to this. I remember the very point I asked myself the very question of that title. That was in the midst of a real nowhere life at that time. From that point I began seeking that dream of my youth. It worked and I have been very blessed. I still try to get others to do the same if they have not. I even had a young guy working for me recently who has tons of potential and I told him basically to ask that question to himself and then go for it. :)

Edit:
Yes! That's the stuff, all of them!

Yes the 60's and 70's were a time of angry youth singing protest anthems about everything from the Vietnam War, to Civil Rights to fears of Global Thermonuclear Warfare to the poisoning of our planet by corporate, industrial waste.

Then in the late 70's and early 80's Ian Drury summed it up with the song Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll.

By the 80's and 90's the ME generation was in full swing and their only worries seemed to be hookers and blow and getting ahead in the corporate world.

Nowadays we have more musical variety on the planet than ever before with self publishing artists on the interweb creating new genres daily, but nothing even remotely approaches the political youth movement of the 60's and early 70's.

Back in 1970, Underground FM radio was OUR internet. We all shared a vision of the evils of the military industrial complex robbing us of our future, but today with movements like Black Lives Matter and Occupy Wall Street failing to gather traction it seriously looks like the only protests that get heard these days are on Beyonce's Twitter Feed. :p

Been listening to the Viola Beach album recently. You might have heard about them in the news - they sadly all died in a car crash at the start of the year :(
Yes Becky, that tragedy was reported on our news. Since you posted this last night, I decided to listen to their songs. They were very good. Such a talented bunch of kids.

And now time for something completely different! I'm a keen gamer, and very much looking forward to Battlefield 1 which comes out in October. This is a remix of Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes which was used in the first trailer:

And here's the original if you want to compare (pretty good video too):

Only games I play are scrabble on my Android and chess on my pc. Lol . No music.
The white stripes were a pretty powerful outfit . . . Just brother and sister but a huge sound. Great sound 7NA.

/me is not a gamer.

THIS is the crap that passed for game music in my time.

Gary :D :D :D

elephant bells, dark side of the moon, and the first video game- ping pong
I stopped at super break out in about 79 where I became the machine champ and video games became too silly. I remember my brother and son playing this stupid haunted house game and Mike Tyson punch out driving me nuts.

Love this track, one of my bands covers it. Great fun (and very easy) to play. Winner on the dance floor.

Also - I'm a "retired" gamer, but I'm seriously considering coming out of retirement for Battlefield 1. My kids are all over it and very keen to get hold of it when it comes out, might just have to shove them off the couch and take over!
