I especially enjoyed the first two performances. The third reminded me of this performance I saw on a Ted Talks video a few years ago.

The woman is a true organ virtuoso player.

It might be a good thing that I saw that video in case I ever heard it playing somewhere since I used to think the moody blues had an orchestra until I saw the videos. :)

Actually the Moody Blues did their earliest recordings with a full philharmonic orchestra.

It was the invention of the Mellotron which allowed them to take their shows on the road.

But yeah, it's amazing the sounds a modern keyboard can reproduce these days :)

Here's the true story of how the mellotron saved the Moody Blues' career.

That was a nice informative read. Thank You!

"Rick Wakeman of Yes burned two of them in celebration" :)

Someone here has a farfisa on their profile and it reminded me that was my first keyboard after the family magnus chord organ. Not sure what my model was but I thought then that it had great sound for nights in white satin etc. I used it with a bass amp and plenty of reverb. It had to be a 60's model I think.

I'm finally not listening to anything at all but what I did listen to would be way too much to list. Thanks to the last posts I spent 8-10 hrs on a youtube journey with Jon Lord, Deep Purple, Malcomb Arnold, Whitesnake and a little Rick Wakeman..
Maybe that's where everyone else suddenly went too. :)

It has been quiet here just lately. Maybe everyone's watching the Olympics.

You might have heard about them in the news - they sadly all died in a car crash at the start of the year :(

WOW! What a tragedy! Really, thanks for sharing this! I didn't know. I actually just woke up and clicked and listened. I started liking it. I love when todays kids capture the early rock years like this into something new. Then I read what you typed. WOW! This is infinitely sad! This is going to speak to me somehow. :( :( :(

I just went through a thing about Christina Grimme. When I saw her picture in the headlnes, I thought "wow, I know her from somewhere." Then I realized it was her just three weeks before, seeing her for the first time, doing a song I did not know but with lyrics that blew me away because I have known the phenomenon this songs touches on. She must have known too because she brilliantly tries to capture the image with her make up, lighting, and background. She does not really look like this. Maybe someone else set her up with this image.
:( :( :(
